Friday 3rd February to Sunday 5th February 2012

Friday 3rd February

Well after a goodnights sleep on dry land and knowing our house is safe outside...we headed off towards Port Macquarie not intending to travel that far we had a destination of Ellenbourgh where John found on map to be a good spot to camp for the night.

After traveling a few hours and stopping for morning coffee at Walcha..we headed off onto the lovely NOT !!!! winding winding road heading to Wauchope. If anyone has travelled the Oxley Highway they will know what I'm talking about, hair pin bends by the hundreds, not a good road to be travelling with a 45 ft vehicle...but we coped...only to find when we got to Ellenborough the camp site was rather wet and the ground very muddy and soft so we decided to move on to a better spot...John picked out a place where they had a show ground with power sites so we headed there... OMG !!!! Another mistake it was only 27 km away...but the road was narrow and winding up a steep mountain so we had to travel only 20 kph as it was so steep..Once we got there ..it was a little country town ..no service whatsoever on the mobiles...and yes they had a show ground hummmmmm no power no water... Not that it bothered us we didn't need it...couldn't find anyone to advise us if we could stay... So we just pulled up on side of road and there we stayed for the night...

Saturday 4th February

Finally sunshine !!!! Woke up to blue skies..we hit the road early.. Going back the same way we came...at least it's down hill this time..

We made it to Port Macquarie by lunch time, my brother Geoff and Pat are coming over for lunch, they are staying at South West Rocks in their van at the moment. It was nice to catch up, as we have not seen them for about 19 months so it was a lovely afternoon.

We had to park on 2 sites to fit in..

After they left John and I went for a walk around up to Flynn's Beach ..the water was quite rough..but a lovely spot. On the way back noticed a nice little restaurant so we booked a table to return later for dinner.

All in all a very nice day and evening.

Sunday 5th February
On the road again early heading to next over night spot Hawks Nest Caravan Park...I love this area we stayed here a couple of years ago..wish we had more time to hang around for a while.. but we have a deadline tomorrow...

Houseboats on the Myall River, would love to spend sometime on one and do lots of fishing !
