Wednesday 7th March 2012

Well today is going to be very hot expected 38 degrees so we decided after John had taken the truck to be washed we would go back to Twilight beach where we took pictures yesterday...and spend a few hours in the water and relaxing...

The drive there once again on the Great Ocean Drive ...was glorious the view beautiful.... we arrived just before 12 noon and set up the beach tent as we knew we would have to use the shelter as it was so hot... but we had a lovely breeze and the water was cool at first which was nice and then lovely once you got in...we could walk out a long way and still only be up to our waist...it was just glorious

I took the camera with me as the water is just so calm no worries of falling over in the waves... and the ocean floor was just the soft white sand..The water is a bright aqua blue, changing to deeper, darker marina blue as the coastline drops away into the deep ocean.

We met up with people on the beach that were staying in the same park as us... and we got a lot of information off them about Perth and places to visit... they are from Margaret River, and taking a 3 week break in Esperance.

The Great Ocean Drive is a circular loop that runs 38km from Esperance. The road leads to the Wind Farms at Salmon Beach and Ten Mile Lagoon that is linked to the local power supply. We haven't checked out this beach yet...

Esperance is the second windiest place in Western Australia and these farms help to offset local fuel prices.

We passed the famous Pink Lake ... a massive salt lake that appears a lovely pink at certain times. The dunalella salina algae causes the lake to change colour and, depending what time of day you visit and the current water and salinity levels, the pink has been known to change from brilliant blues to a fairy-tale pink. But today it was just plain old white...

We booked for another week once we returned home... so much to see around here... we don't want to miss anything...
