31 st October 2012

Well we are into our 3 rd week at Cottentree and it has not been rest and relaxation, as you know from my previous blog...

I have been back in hospital once again... This time for 3 days... And they had to do another aspiration and this time removed 160 mls of fluid...I have to return to hospital this Friday for further review to see if any more fluid has built up.

The saga of the truck thickens.....Iveco have come to the party re replacing the new diff, but have knocked back paying for the clutch... They said we have voided our warranty... i won't go into too much detail here...So it's another battle we have to fight.

BUT ..... Wait there's more !!!!! On the final inspection of the vehicle before we could pick it up.... They notice that the air filter was missing !!!!!!! And apparently the vehicle was sold to us without one being fitted... We have now travelled for 9 months all around WA in all the red dust without an air filter, so you can imagine the damage it's done to the engine and the turbo... So now we are in negotiations with Iveco to replace the engine.. As I said it's not been a good month so far...

Roll on November !!!!

27th October 2012

Well here we are at our second week at Cottontree Caravan Park....The good news is that we are having lovely weather, and we are in a great spot beach one side shops etc on the other all in very close proximity...

The bad news is we still have not got the truck back it will be 2 weeks on Monday we have been without wheels, except the scooter, but we don't go too far on that....

You realise how stranded you are when I had a complication with my surgery last Sunday, my breast swelled up and was quite painful and we had to once again rely on my brother to pick me up and take me to hospital..where I was admitted for the day and after scans they found I had developed Seroma and the breast tissue was leaking fluid..They had to aspirate the fluid out ( not very pleasant sticking needles in a somewhat very sore wound ) they took 100 mls out of fluid ....which relieved the pain thank goodness, then i was allowed to go home...

They are expecting we will get the truck back on Monday so fingers crossed, they informed us that the parts alone were up in the $5000 mark that's before labour is added on... so goodness knows what the bill will be...

And I'm not out of the woods yet... seems my breast is swelling again and more pain....looks like another trip back to the hospital.

20th October 2012 Mooloolaba

Beautiful day ... again so we decided to meet up with my brother Derek and sister in law Janice and their son Craig for lunch at Mooloolaba ...at the surf club...yummy food...

After we went for a stroll down the promenade ...and took in the sights... it's a lovely part of the sunshine coast and a very popular beach...

15th October 2012 "On The Road Again"

Well after almost 4 weeks in Sydney we are finally back on the road...but not without more problems..

We left Camden on the 15th October,on what we knew would be a very long day, as we had to fly to the Sunshine Coast where my brother Derek picked us up and drove us to Gympie, approx 100 kms.. Once there we picked up our 5th Wheeler again and headed back down the 100km to Cottontree Caravan Park which is at Maroochydore ...

Once nearing the area we missed a turn off and ended up on a narrow winding road, where it was impossible to turn around and go back... So we followed the road, which had some very very steep hills... John made the comment that he didn't think the truck was pulling as good as it normally does... After climbing our 3 rd very steep hill the truck decided that it didn't want to do this anymore.... And stopped... And nothing John did could convince it to go further... So here we are very tired after a very very long day..me 2 days out of hospital so not feeling the best and stuck on a very very steep hill going nowhere ....Clutch smelling like it's on fire... !!!

We called the Iveco Emergency Service and they were very good, lucky for us an Iveco repairers was not too far away, they promptly came out and after some discussion it was decided that we would have to be towed.... 5th wheeler and all....

They were able to tow us to the top of the hill, and then the mechanic and the tow truck escorts us to the Iveco yard... where we had to leave them for the night... thank goodness my brother Derek lived close by and was able to come and get us again.... And put us up for the night...what a nightmare....

Returned to the yard the next morning...they wanted to take it to the weigh bridge to get it weighed to work out what was what with the diff etc...John drove it there with the mechanic.... after we took the trailer to the caravan park and parked it and he took the truck back to the yard to be fixed. As long as we didn't find any hills it was ok.

The outcome is that apparently when we purchased the truck the diff ratio was not correct to pull the weight of the trailer... so it was changed to a bigger diff..... BUT they are now saying that the people at Newcastle that changed the diff didn't put a big enough one in so therefore it's now burnt the clutch out... And because it's an application that has been changed on the Truck it's not covered by Iveco warranty... So they are all fighting over who is going to pay for all this work... Hope it's not us

Trucks been in for repair for a 10 days now and still don't know when we are getting it back... Grrrr

Back at Camden

We dropped the 5th Wheeler off at Gympie for its repairs etc...and we headed to my brother, Derek's, place for a few days... Then we flew into Sydney , first staying at Sharon's and then Mychele's... Where we caught up on lots of doctors appointments and dentist appointments etc...
And awaited my admission date to go into hospital for my surgery.. which was 10th October...

It was great catching up with the grand children...and spending time with the family...

It's sad that Haley & Daniel (John's Children) don't live in Sydney also so we could spend time with them too...but they live in other states...We will catch up with Daniel in November when we head back down to Sydney ...
